Suspicious/threatening email to head teacher

You may have heard reports that schools across London and in other parts of the country have recently received bomb threats. Some schools in Greenwich received an email with a threat this morning and asking for a payment to be made by the school.

Schools responded quickly to the threats and made the Council and the Police aware. The Metropolitan Police have advised that they are NOT treating the emails as a credible threat. There is nothing within the email that names a specific school and the same email has also been sent to other schools throughout London.

The Police have advised that in this instance it is not necessary to evacuate and those schools that have evacuated this morning can return to their sites. Safer Schools Officers and Neighbourhoods Officers will be visiting the schools in the borough over the next few days. A marked Police Vehicle will also be patrolling the schools.

Schools have been advised to contact 999 if they see someone or something they are not comfortable with.
