Year 5/6 Boys football matches against James Wolfe

G Walsh (gwalsh) on: PE and Sports in Morden Mount

Morden Mount Boys Football team played 6 matches against James Wolfe recently. 3 matches in Morden Mount and 3 matches in James Wolfe. Both school teams showed a great competitive spirit whilst at the same time showing true sportsmanship and a positive attitude. Over the 6 matches, a mutual respect grew between both teams and shaking hands after every match became the norm.

For Morden Mount, Anastasios and Tomilola played really well in goals saving us on many occasions. Collins and Armend have developed a formidable partnership in defence and always concentrate and communicate well in every game. Chinedu's workrate has matched his skill and he has scored a few goals as a reward for his efforts. Mohammed has been a real find for us this year and he contributed 4 goals in 2 matches through his determination and decision making. We have learned a lot from playing our friends at James Wolfe and we hope to put what we have learnt into practice in the upcoming tournaments. Well Done Boys!!

Year 5 Girls finish joint 1st place in Greenwich Girls Football Competition

G Walsh (gwalsh) on: PE and Sports in Morden Mount

To say I am proud of this team is an understatement. We trained every Wednesday morning since September. Right from the first session, the girls put in a huge effort and improved their passing skills, dribbling skills and decision making skills. In addition, they worked as a team and learned to play in different positions on the pitch. All of the hard work culminated in the huge achievement of finishing joint 1st in Greenwich.

We won an incredible 4 matches and drew 2 matches finishing the day unbeaten. Reeda was voted our player of the tournament scoring 3 goals but we had heroes all over the pitch. Aliyah scored a sensational goal herself and Neveah was unbeatable in goals not conceding a single goal. In front of her, Demi and Talina were rock solid in defence and Vicky and Lashante formed a formidable midfield partnership showing off all their skills. We had great players to call upon in each match with Emmanuella, Tia, Victoria, Arianne and Alyssa all playing superbly.

It was a real squad effort and I have enjoyed coaching these players who have all shown a great attitude and team spirit throughout the year. Well done

Mr Walsh

Year 5/6 Football Matches versus James Wolfe

Morden Mount versus James Wolfe

October 2018

One sunny afternoon in October, Morden Mount participated in friendly matches with James Wolfe Year 5/6 boys football team. Some Morden Mount players were really excited as this was their first time representing the school in football.

The opposing team started really strongly and as a result, they scored the first goal. Due to a mixture of nervousness and indecision, we conceded a second goal shortly afterwards. As the match wore on, we grew in confidence and Jibril scored a goal from a corner kick leaving the final score:

James wolfe 2

Morden Mount 1

The second match was highly entertaining with both teams defending really well. Tomilola made some spectacular saves but we conceded two goals. Showing great resilience, we managed to score two goals ourselves and equalise with Chinedu scoring both goals.

James Wolfe 2

Morden Mount 2

In our final match, we were determined to put in a good performance. James and Collins had a good partnership in defence and set up Chinedu for the opening goal. James Wolfe soon equalised. Morden Mount didn’t give up and scored another goal after some excellent passing and Appolos scored an amazing free kick to make the score 3-1. James Wolfe then scored an amazing score themselves. The game ended and both teams shook hands.

Morden Mount 3

James Wolfe 2
