Year 5 Ducklings

For their Life Processes topic in Science ,Year 5 undertook the exciting responsibility of hatching and looking after ducklings for ten days! Before the ducklings arrived, the children did extensive research on ducks, writing fascinating non-chronological all about Pekin ducks. Over the ten days, they watched as the incubated eggs began to pip and finally, five healthy ducklings arrived. Everyone was extremely mature and responsible whilst looking after such small creatures. The children helped the ducklings take their first swim, kept their cage clean and made sure they were fed and watered. Our babies are now safely back at the farm and, although we all miss them, we wish them all the best!
