The learning below shows pupils development in exploring space, movement and balls skills and hand and eye coordination, including agility.

Crouching Tiger, Running Dragon - EYFS

In Reception, children are following simple instructions during gymnastics activities. They demonstrate basic movements such as walking, running, skipping, and crawling, often incorporating 'animal moves.' They are learning to perform a variety of shapes, jumps, balances, and rolls, and to link these actions together. Additionally, children are being taught how to safely carry and use mats and benches.

Point of Balance - KS1

In Year 1, children are developing skills in basic gymnastics, including travel, balance, and shapes. They demonstrate a variety of recognized balance points. The children are introduced to movements such as turning, twisting, rocking, and rolling, with opportunities to connect these actions. Later in the term, they will practice and perform simple canon and unison techniques.

Good Lunch then Badminton - LKS2

At lunchtimes, children play multi-sport games in the key stage 2 playground. In this photo the year 3 children are enjoying a game of badminton. They are developing their understanding of rules and knowledge of how to score. The children serve to begin a game and explore forehand hitting with increasing confidence.

Strategic Attack & Defence - UKS2

In football, Year 6 pupils are employing a wider range of attacking and defensive strategies. They have practiced turning with the ball, controlling bouncing balls, and creating space on the field. The children enjoy using a variety of positions and formations in small and large games.
