French-Fanatics
The school deploys an immersive approach where pupils are taught to use french within contexts. In KS2, pupils are taught to initiate, sustain, and conclude a simple conversation on three distinct topics (e.g., family, hobbies, school life) using an appropriate range of vocabulary, common phrases, and simple present-tense verbs.
Fantastic French - LKS2
Year 4 has made a magnifique start continuing their French language journey! We have focused heavily on pronunciation, learning specific phonemes to help us sound more authentic when speaking. We also explored French culture, discussing the country and typical national traditions. A major highlight was using “Showbie” to record video of them introducing themselves. The students loved posting these clips and listening back to their own voices, which was a fantastic way to build confidence in their speaking skills.
Bon’ Appetit - UKS2
In this unit, Year-6 pupils will learn 10 fruits and be introduced to the simple opinions ‘I like’ and ‘I do not like’. By the end of the unit pupils will have the knowledge and skills to be able to say which fruits they like and do not like. Children will attempt to spell some of these nouns, ask somebody in French if they like a particular fruit, and say what fruits they like and dislike.
