Humans, Nature, Universes

The images demonstrate the successful achievement of the science intent as pupils  through hands-on investigations, consistently show curiosity and ask questions, allowing them to apply knowledge of scientific concepts and evaluate findings, from exploring seasonal changes in EYFS to building structures in STEM lessons in Upper KS2.

Nature Walk, Nature Talk - EYFS

Each week, Reception pupils engage in valuable scientific exploration within the nature space. Working in small groups, they have developed a hands-on understanding of their environment by painting with soil, creating patterns using natural materials like leaves, stones, and sticks, and searching for snails and other insects. This week's focus, captured in the photo, was leaf rubbing, which was connected to discussions about the seasons and the observable changes in nature.

Four Legs, Two Legs, Three Legs - KS1

This picture celebrates Year 2's exploration of the human life cycle. Having already investigated the cycles of seasons and plants, the child here visualises and represents within science, the stages of their own life, demonstrating a clear understanding of growth and change.

Is Ice Lava? - LKS2

In our first term science lessons, Year 4 explored the States of Matter through our exciting "Fantastic Water" topic. We investigated how materials change state, observing freezing ice and the water droplets formed by condensation. We were making different experiments to show these processes. We recorded them in iOS programme β€œPages”. We watched water change from solid to liquid to gas, we unlocked the knowledge of how rain, clouds, and rivers are formed.

Four Forces, One Universe - UKS2

This picture captures Year 6 pupils engaged in a multi-faceted science lesson. Starting with an online session with STEM ambassadors to explore the power of shape in design, they progressed through investigating forces, balance, and centre of gravity. The pupils then applied this physics knowledge to design and build balanced hanging structures. A celebration of our intent for immersive and experiential learning in science.
