Faith: Unity & Kindness
This term, our focus has been on Religious Expression, exploring how people of faith communicate and live out their beliefs through worship, stories, and celebrations. Pupils learned how actions reflect values such as commitment, respect, and responsibility. Through discussion and reflection, they connected religious practices to real-life choices, deepening their understanding of how belief can guide behaviour in everyday life.
Bright Light Celebration - EYFS
In Reception, the pupils have participated in the celebration of Diwali, a key celebration among the Hindus in our community. Drawing on their knowledge of colours, the completed exquisite design of Rangoli, and transformed their classroom environment. They also made traditional oil lamps, an important celebration of knowledge in the Hindu religion. This picture captures our immersive approach to learning.
Nativity & Generosity - KS1
In year 1 pupils have been exploring the theme of The Christmas story. Pupils have discussed how it feels to give and receive, matching gifts to people and animals and talking about meaningful presents. This photo shows pupils passing round the ‘fools’ gold, smelling the frankincense and looking at the oil (representing myrrh). They were taught the symbolism of the gifts and learnt that the kingship, priesthood and death were all parts of Jesus's journey on earth. This picture celebrates our approach to immersive learning.
Unity: Wear It, Be It - LKS2
Year 3 pupils have been exploring religious symbols and their meanings, successfully applying this concept to their own identity within the school environment. This picture celebrates one child's insightful identification of the school jumper as a symbol of identity, which they further developed by drawing a circle to represent that kindness, rather than the uniform, is more important. This learning beautifully celebrates our RE’s intent on focussing on the common human elements that bind the people together - humanism.
Commitment and Humanity - UKS2
Year 6 pupils looked closely at the universal concept of commitment both as a foundation of religious beliefs (using practices in Islam as a case study) and as an important part of personal discipline (humanism). They learned that underneath every success is the trait of commitment - when you are disciplined (committed) and stick to it. This picture shows one pupil’s clear understanding and personal reflections of what commitment entails.
