The images demonstrate the successful achievement of the science intent as pupils  through hands-on investigations, consistently show curiosity and ask questions, allowing them to apply knowledge of scientific concepts and evaluate findings, from exploring seasonal changes in EYFS to building structures in STEM lessons in Upper KS2.

Green Thumbed Scientists - EYFS

This term, Reception is focusing on the Biology of plants and growth. They are following the different stages of growth from seed to tree, identifying and noting what plants need to grow and grow well. This is providing them a hands on first hand experience of growth. 

Material Science - KS1

Year 1 is exploring Material Chemistry. They are identifying the different materials everyday objects are made of and reasons behind the choices.  This is the first stage in their learning of materials, qualities and purposes.

Photons and Entropy - LKS2

These pictures show year 4 experimenting the Physics of light, reflection and shadows. The children learnt how and why light reflects and the formation of shadow, noting that reflection and the formation and length of shadows, is affected by the the distance between the light source and the object. 

DLR Inspiraton - UKS2

Year 6 had a day of building motors as part of the Primary Engineers project. These gave them the opportunity to collaborate and learn from a real life Docklands Railway Engineer. The children worked in groups to measure, cut and assemble their โ€˜enginesโ€™.
