Sporting Success
These photos demonstrate how learning throughout PE has been taught in summer term.
Starting Strong - EYFS
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) athletics segment in Physical Education (PE) aims to develop children's fundamental movement skills, coordination, and basic athletic abilities in a fun and engaging way. This segment focuses on fostering physical development, encouraging active participation, and promoting a love for physical activity through structured play and guided activities.
Masters of Momentum - KS1
In this unit of work, we are looking a little deeper into the mechanics of running and changing speed. We are also beginning to work on jumping for distance by taking off from one foot and landing on the same foot – hopping. We explore how quickly we can accelerate from a variety of different positions including sitting, standing, kneeling, lying down, etc., and allow the children to find the position that they feel helps them to get up to full speed the quickest.
- LKS2
Children learnt how to control their movement in response to instructions. Demonstrate agility and speed. Jump for height and distance. Throw with speed and power and apply appropriate force. In cricket they learnt how to adhere to some of the basic rules of cricket. Develop a range of skills to use in isolation and a competitive context. Strike a bowled ball.
Skill, Speed, Power, Precision - KS2
Upper Key Stage 2 have learnt how to sustain pace over short and longer distances in athletics, run as part of a relay team, and perform a range of jumps and throws. Students also developed their cricket skills in summer 1. They linked a range of skills and used in combination. They were able to collaborate with a team to choose, use and adapt rules in games. UPKS2 students can now recognise how some aspects of fitness apply to cricket, e.g., power, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Year 6 girls football team also won a tournament and the boys got to the final of a competition.
