Talk Partners - EYFS

Reception have been working on developing their communication skills using sentence frames and talk partners. The intervention NELI has been used across the phase to develop all aspects language. Children have taken part in workshops such as african storytelling to celebrate Black History Month and oracy.  

Light Language - KS1

This learning module focused on developing narrative skills through the retelling of traditional tales, specifically employing Pie Corbett's Story Map technique to visually structure the plot. These structural techniques supported both oral and performance work. Practical application culminated in preparing and performing a Diwali Assembly, where students acted out the story with both a partner and the whole-class. Literacy and oral communication skills were further honed through the use of stem sentences to support clear recounting and the practice of choral reading to build fluency and expressive delivery.

Speak Loud, Speak Proud - LKS2

Lower Key Stage 2 have been focusing on oracy skills, a variety of different skills including, stem sentences, talk partners, think alouds, reading for pleasure author workshops and reciting poetry.  

Young Bards on the Cards - UKS2

Year 5 pupils performed The Shakespeare Schools Festival works in partnership with the National Theatre to help 700 schools from across the UK to stage abridged Shakespeare productions in their local professional theatre.  Some children in Year 5 are working with the Shakespeare Company and are taking part in this year’s performance of The Tempest.
