Arithmetic Excellence

We will develop medium-term plans demonstrating the progression of core knowledge (substantive) and skills (disciplinary) that pupils will acquire in their study of Maths in each year group.  The medium-term plans will map out the learning journey of pupils including their ready-to-progress criteria and learning outcomes. The medium-term plan will have child-friendly targets and be used to  guide the learning journey of all pupils and support consistency between year groups. Impact of this implementation process will include clear and precise triangulation between the medium-term plans, pupils' learning (as seen during learning observations) and pupils’ books.

Sums of Success - LKS2

Year 4 performed exceptionally well during the National times tables check in June, with 85% of students achieving a remarkable success rate of 92%, scoring more than 23 out of 25 points. This impressive performance exceeded the expectations. The children also responded positively to transitioning to the new NCETM scheme, highlighting both their enthusiasm for learning and strong grasp of key mathematical concepts.

Reasoning Results - UKS2

Y5 successfully transitioned from White Rose to the NCETM curriculum. The transition has been smooth and effective. Pupils have adapted well, showing increased mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills and working more independently. Teachers have embraced the new structure, leading to improved confidence and deeper understanding across key topics. Y6 focused on excellence in arithmetic and the application of that knowledge to challenging reasoning problems, evidenced by excellent SATs scores.
